Rev. Gary S. Schuschke

Pastor Schuschke was raised in the US in the mountains of Colorado. His childhood
was spent both in the city and on a cattle ranch at 2500 meters above sea level. He is a
graduate of the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and Concordia
University in Seward, Nebraska. While at Concordia, he completed his student teaching
at the Hong Kong International School in Repulse Bay, Hong Kong.


He taught third and fourth grades for Trinity Lutheran School, San Angelo, Texas and
for Immanuel Lutheran School in Alexandria, Virginia, which was fifteen minutes from
the White House. He began his studies at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1995.
While in Seminary, he spent a year as an exchange student at the Seminary of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church of England in Cambridge. His special subject was English
Reformation.


Pastor Schuschke completed his Vicarage at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Oviedo,
Florida. After graduation, St. Luke’s called him back to serve as one of their pastors. He
served there from 2000 to 2018.


He is an avid traveler. He has taught Bible workshops in Moscow and Novosibirsk,
Russia, and led mission trips to Latvia. One of the things that he has enjoyed the
most has been leading trips for his congregation. Their trips have included the
Luther sites, the footsteps of St. Paul in Greece and Turkey, the Passion
Play in Oberammergau and the Holy Land.


Pastor has completed his advanced certification in scuba diving. His most
memorable dive happened in Turks and Caicos when he saw a humpback whale under
the water from about eight meters away.


He enjoys walking, hiking, reading and had an annual pass to Walt Disney World for
eighteen years.
