Please Welcome Pastor Oberdeck and his Wife, Ginny

Rev. Dr. John W. Oberdeck and his wife Ginny live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He retired June 30 from Concordia University Wisconsin after fifteen years, where he served as a Professor of Theology and Director for the Lay Ministry Program. Prior to coming to CUW in 2002, he served on the faculty of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, for thirteen years, first as the Director of Resident Field Education, and later as director of the Doctor of Ministry Program and the Continuing Education Program. During his teaching career his focus was on education, pastoral care, and youth ministry. He is the author of Eutychus Youth: Applied Theology for Youth Ministry (CPH 2010). From 1979 to 1989 he served as pastor for parishes in southern Illinois. Ginny is a retired special education teacher. She taught in Lutheran schools in St. Louis and in Milwaukee. Pastor and Ginny have three grown children: Andrew (married to Angela), an attorney in Seattle, Washington, and parents of Evelyn (8) and Claire (5); Debbie (married to Owen Stamm), a nurse practitioner in a Chicago suburb, and parents of Ethan (7), Gavin (5), and Emily (2); and Christy (married to Rev. Brad Malone – pastor of Lamb of God Lutheran Church, Seattle, Washington), and parents of Esther (2) and Iris (4 months). Christy is Principal at Concordia Lutheran School, Seattle.

Rev. Oberdeck continues to be surprised by what he finds God calling him to do, and counts the opportunity to serve the people of Trinity in Frankfurt among the wonderful tasks that ministry presents. He is looking forward to getting to know and serving the congregation.

Join Us Sundays at 9:30 am             Adult Bible Study: „Angels“

One of the most intriguing Scripture references to angels is from Hebrews 13:2 “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares”.

Our society has a fascination with angels, from TV shows to material items.  But what does the Bible teach about angels?

Please join us in the Doris Jacoby Room on Sunday morning from now until March 11, as we consider what God has to say in His word about angels.
